What's Osaka Nara Historical Roads Relay Walk ?

In 2010 Nara City will celebrate the 1300th anniversary of Nara Heijo-kyo Capital. In commemoration of this event, we will visit our four ancient capitals of Naniwa, Asuka, Fujiwara and Nara and their cultural spheres.
We will walk on the road from Naniwa Palace Site to Nara Heijo-kyo Palace Site in 15 installments. The special characteristic of this Relay Walk lies in the fact that the programs have been prepared by volunteer guides of the respective areas by themselves. Every time, local volunteer guides will walk with you.
The Relay Walk starts from Naniwa Palace Site
on September 24, 2007.
In autumn 2008 the Relay Walk will reach Nara Prefecture, and visit Fujiwara-kyo Palace Site, which was the capital during the reign of Empress Jitoh
In spring2009, the Relay Walk will visit Asuka-kyo Site which is full of ancient Japanese mystique.
In spring 2010, the Relay Walk will see its finale at the Daigokuden Hall (the Emperorfs Administrative Office Building) renovated at Nara Heijo-kyo Palace Site.

You will view a part of history and culture while listening to useful explanations which only local volunteer guides can offer.
Now, letfs join the Osaka Nara Historical Roads Relay Walk all 15 times! You are sure to discover something new and be greatly impressed by Japanese history.
